September 11

Job 11:1-20; 12:1-15; 13:1-28; 14:1-22

I'm out of town, in Dallas, and I fly home to Nashville on September 12th.  I always hate to fly on September 11th because of what happened seven years ago.  I also find a chilling irony and a message in what Job has to say in today's reading:

To Him belong strength and victory;
   both deceived and deceiver are his.

He silences the lips of trusted advisers
   and takes away the discernment of elders.
He pours contempt on nobles
   and disarms the mighty.

He makes nations great, and destroys them;
   He enlarges nations, and disperses them.
He deprives the leaders of the earth of their reason;
   He sends them wandering through a trackless waste.
They grope in darkness with no light;
   He makes them stagger like drunkards.
